Windows

Pros

  • Once you get it to work, it's highly intuitive.
  • You can tune your server without ever having to touch the setting files.

Cons

  • The program needs an update.
  • Will only work with the older computers that were upgraded to Windows 10.

In the WampServer, you have a Windows web development environment, and you can create internet applications through PHP, Apache and MySQL Database. This software also features the PHP MyAdmin to help you with managing your databases more easily. To make it even better, WampServer will install automatically, and the usage feels highly intuitive. You feel in tune with the server, and you never have to touch the setting files.

Reproduce Your Production Server

WampServer claims exclusiveness to having the only packaged service where you can reproduce your production server. After you have the WampServer installed, you can add as many releases for MySQL, PHP and Apache. You can also click on the tray icon where you will have access to the server, and you can manage the settings of the server.

Installation Sometimes Gives Problems

Sometimes the download has left reviewers irate because after they installed it, they received an error message that said the program can't run because it's missing MSVCR110.dll. The program said to try to install it again, and after uninstalling all the components, you get the same error when you reinstall it. If you get this error, you're better off finding something else.

Does Good Once It Works

Outside the finicky install, you have a software that takes hours to debug and trace the maze of the undocumented interdependences. Beware of changing anything with the configuration because it works well as long as you don't change the settings, which will start to cause you problems again. As the software grows old and outdated, it presents us with a new nightmare. WampServer has none of the workings that have been adequately documented, and the cryptic error messages give you no clue about what's happening. Some people spent as many as three to five hours trying to deal with the problem, but in truth, it's just not worth the trouble. Even if you do manage to figure it out, you will only solve the problem until the next one comes up.

Might Work Better on an Older Computer

One of the possible advantages to getting this software to work is installing it on an older computer that you upgraded to Windows 10. In this way, it seemed to have all the VC redistributables installed so it is no longer a problem. For a fresh Windows machine, however, it doesn't make practical sense because you will struggle with more problems than what it will be worth.

Should you download this server? For most people, it doesn't make sense because it ultimately becomes useless, and you will spend more time trying to figure out how to get it to work than what it's worth. There are better programs out there that won't give you the same level of problems.
